GOODNESS ME IT HAS BEEN SUCH A WINDY DAY TODAY. THE SORT OF
DAY THAT WHIPS YOU UP INTO A FRENZY. THERE IS ALSO A FULL MOON DUE IN A COUPLE
OF DAYS, SO I DON’T KNOW WHETHER I AM ON THIS EARTH OR FULLERS EARTH QUITE
FRANKLY. LITTLE MOUSE ALSO FINDS THE WIND QUITE ANNOYING LIKE ME,
TRYING TO PEG OUT HER BED SHEETS ON THE WASHING LINE, WHICH BECOME LIKE SAILS
ON A SHIP AND YOU CAN HARDLY HOLD THEM DOWN LONG ENOUGH TO PUT THE PEGS IN CAN
BE QUITE EXHAUSTING! AS I SIT HERE IN MY OFFICE LOOKING DOWN THE LANE INFRONT
OF THE FARM, THE QUEEN ANNES LACE IS BLOWING ABOUT AND LOOKS LIKE A CROWD
PERFORMING A MEXICAN WAVE AT A SPORTING EVENT, OR LIKE THE ‘WHITE HORSES’ AT THE
SEASIDE AS THE WAVES ROLL AND TUMBLE ONTO THE SHORE, IT LOOKS QUITE BEAUTIFUL,
ALL CREAM AND FLUFFY. THE SWALLOWS HAVE RETURNED AND ARE BOBBING AND WEAVING
CATCHING THE NEXT MEAL FOR THEIR LITTLE ONES. SPRING IS A WONDERFUL TIME OF
YEAR WHEREEVER YOU LIVE, BE IT TOWN OR COUNTRY. THE LANCSCAPE CHANGES EVERY DAY
AS NEW LIFE BURSTS FROM ALL THE TREES, HEDGEROWS AND GARDENS. LITTLE MOUSE
LIVES NOT FAR FROM THE FARM WHERE FARMER BOB AND FARMER RICHIE HAVE BEEN
GATHERING THE GRASS FROM THE FIELDS, ONCE AGAIN, FOR WINTER FODDER (chapter
eight, a visit to Oak Tree Farm), THE SMELL OF THE FRESH CUT GRASS IS
DELIGHTFUL. TODAY, HOWEVER THE SMELL IS LESS DELIGHTFUL AS THEY SPREAD MANURE,
OH DEAR THE JOYS OF THE COUNTRYSIDE.
I WILL LEAVE THAT THOUGHT WITH YOU.
